Policies
Advisory Board Policy and Terms of Appointment
Strategic scholarly guidance — distinct from routine editorial decision-making.
Official policy. Adopted text confirmed by the journal editor.
Purpose and scope
This policy describes the advisory role in journal development, scholarly standards, scope, quality and academic strategy. It applies to the NADT Journals Advisory Board and the JERS Advisory Board.
Advisory responsibilities
- Advising on journal scope, scholarly standards and long-term academic direction.
- Supporting quality, integrity and ethical publishing across the platform.
- Contributing academic perspectives on policy and strategy when consulted.
What advisers do not do
Advisory responsibilities are distinct from routine editorial decision-making. Advisers do not routinely screen manuscripts, select reviewers or take accept/revise/reject decisions — those belong to the editorial boards and editors under the Editorial Board Policy and the Peer Review and Editorial Decision Policy.
JHSS and JERS differences
- NADT Journals Advisory Board supports standards and ethical publishing across the platform (presented under the NADT Journals label; not assigned to JERS).
- JERS Advisory Board advises a journal in its formative stage: formal registration and ISSN allocation are planned, not yet obtained. The JERS board page is published once the board is constituted.
Ethical standards
- Act solely in the scholarly interest of the journals.
- Keep any unpublished material shared in an advisory capacity confidential — see the Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Policy.
- Declare conflicts of interest relevant to advice given.
Appointment terms
For JERS, advisory board membership is a voluntary scholarly service role with no remuneration or financial incentives. Expected engagement levels, appointment duration, renewal and termination have not been decided as official terms; they will be stated here only once confirmed by the journal editor.
Policy status
Status: Official policy. Reviewed and authorised for publication by the journal editor. No approval date, registration status, ISSN or accreditation is claimed beyond what is stated here.
